Chris uses several different techniques in making his work.
Many of the pots are thrown on a wheel. Some of these are then altered by cutting and re-assembling. Others are beaten into shape by the use of a wooden paddle.
Seats and sculptural pieces are built up with slabs and coils, often with an internal supporting structure (also made from clay) to avoid distortion in the firing.
All the work is thoroughly dried and then stored, before being packed into the kiln for firing.
